THE YELLOW MELODIES nos presentan ‘Pleasant dreams’, un tributo a su disco favorito de los RAMONES, que fue publicado el 20 de julio de 1981, por lo que los murcianos han hecho coincidir su salida con el 40 aniversario del fantástico álbum que fue producido por Graham Gouldman.

THE YELLOW MELODIES son en la actualidad Rafa Skam a la voz y guitarra, Antonio Clares al bajo y coros, Carlos Abrisqueta a los teclados y guitarras, y José Ángel Hernández a la batería. Tras la trilogía de EPs “Sunshine Pop” que nos han brindado este último año y poco, más un single 7” con tres canciones en el sello griego Old Bad Habits, de Vasilis, del grupo KISSAMATIC LOVEBUBBLES, ahora se han atrevido a versionar entero el sexto álbum de los de Queens, el infravalorado ‘Pleasant dreams’, pero llevándose las canciones a terrenos bien distintos, prescindiendo casi completamente de las guitarras eléctricas y de la distorsión, y vistiendo sus canciones con sintetizadores, cajas de ritmo, guitarras acústicas, teclados, glockenspiels, cuerdas,... y sobre todo, multitud de armonías vocales, extrayendo todo el pop posible de esas canciones punk originales.

Para ello, y aprovechando el tiempo que la pandemia nos ha regalado a causa de la ausencia casi total de conciertos y festivales, THE YELLOW MELODIES han ideado, grabado y producido estas versiones en apenas tres meses, desde finales de marzo a mediados de junio de 2021, en el estudio casero de Rafa Skam y en los estudios PM de Pepe Moreno, donde suelen grabar sus discos, y donde también se ha encargado de la masterización, Mª Mar Soto.

Han contado con la lujosa colaboración de Antonio Galvañ (PARADE) en “Come on now”, y es que ‘Pleasant dreams’ es también el álbum favorito de Antonio Galvañ. También han participado Ruth (VACACIONES) y Antonio (LOS ZAPATOS) en “All’s quiet on the eastern front”.

El álbum se publica en CD y en digital el 20 de Julio de 2021, justo cuando el disco cumple 40 años. La edición en CD cuenta con tres temas extra (remezclas y versiones alternativas) y un libreto de 16 páginas. También habrá en otoño una fantástica edición en vinilo que publicarán Hurrah! Música, Old Bad Habits, Discos Imprescindibles y Snap!! Records, de hecho, el propio Ángel Snap!! es otro de los que piensa que ‘Pleasant dreams’ es el mejor disco de los RAMONES.

Un bonito álbum en el que THE YELLOW MELODIES no han perseguido sacar el mismo sonido de los RAMONES como tantos grupos de punk y garage han hecho durante décadas, sino ofrecer un punto de vista distinto, mucho más pop, siendo fieles a su sonido de melodías brillantes, actitud hedonista y canciones llenas de luz de sol, amor y juventud, capaces de recargarte el día con energías positivas.

THE YELLOW MELODIES bring us ‘Pleasant dreams’, a tribute to their favourite RAMONES album, which was originally released on 20th July 1981, so the gorgeous band from Murcia have made their release coincide with the 40th anniversary of the fantastic album that was produced by Graham Gouldman.

THE YELLOW MELODIES are Rafa Skam (vocals, guitar), Antonio Clares (bass, backing vocals), Carlos Abrisqueta (keyboards, guitars), and José Ángel Hernández (drums). After the trilogy of EPs called “Sunshine Pop” released over the last year plus a 7” single on the Greek Old Bad Habits label (run by Vasilis, from the band KISSAMATIC LOVEBUBBLES), now they have dared to cover the entire sixth album by the famous band from Queens, the underrated ‘Pleasant dreams’, but taking the songs to very different places, changing the electric guitars and distortion for synthesizers, glockenspiels, acoustic guitars, strings, keyboards and above all, vocal harmonies, extracting as much pop as possible from those original punk songs.

Taking advantage of the time that the pandemic has given us due to the almost total absence of concerts and festivals, THE YELLOW MELODIES have created, recorded and produced these versions in just three months, from the end of March to mid-June of 2021, in Rafa Skam's home studio and Pepe Moreno's PM studios, where they usually record their albums, and where Mª Mar Soto has also been in charge of the mastering.

Antonio Galvañ (PARADE) ha collaborated in “Come on now”, as ‘Pleasant dreams’ is also Antonio Galvañ’s favourite RAMONES album. Ruth (VACACIONES) and Antonio (LOS ZAPATOS) have also recorded vocals in “All’s quiet on the eastern front”.

The album is released on CD and digital on July 20, 2021, just when the album turns 40. The CD edition features three bonus tracks (remixes and alternate versions) and a 16-page booklet. There will also be a fantastic vinyl edition coming out this fall on four gorgeous labels: Hurrah! Música, Old Bad Habits, Discos Imprescindibles and Snap!! Records; in fact, Angel Snap!! also thinks that ‘Pleasant dreams’ is the best RAMONES album.

A beautiful album in which THE YELLOW MELODIES have not tried to do the same RAMONES’ sound as so many punk and garage groups have done for decades, but they have offered a different point of view, much more pop, being faithful to their sound of bright melodies, hedonistic attitude and songs full of sunlight, love and youth, capable of recharging your day with positive energies. .
